In-State Tuition Rates for Nonresident Service Members, Separated Service Members and Their Families

University System of Georgia
In-state tuition rate instead of the nonresident rate

The University System of Georgia charges in-state tuition instead of the much higher nonresident rate if you are a service member stationed in or assigned to Georgia, recently separated, or the spouse or dependent child of someone who is. It also covers students using VA benefits transferred from a serving member.

Check eligibility

How to apply

Ask the residency or registrar office at the University System of Georgia institution you are attending or applying to, and provide the documentation showing which qualifying condition you meet.

What you'll need

Documentation of your qualifying condition, such as orders assigning you to Georgia, your DD214 showing a separation within 36 months, or proof of your relationship to the service member.

Eligibility

  • You are currently or were recently stationed in or assigned to Georgia, are in the Georgia National Guard or a Georgia-based Reserve unit, separated within the past 36 months and intend to become a Georgia resident, are the spouse or dependent child of one of these service members, or are using VA educational benefits transferred from a serving member
