Veterans’ Hiring Preference for Georgia State Employment

Georgia Department of Administrative Services
5 or 10 points added to your examination score

Georgia gives veterans and some spouses a hiring preference for state jobs. Depending on your service and disability, 5 or 10 points are added to a passing pre-employment examination score. Where an agency does not use scored written exams, equally qualified veterans are preferred over non-veteran applicants. During a reduction in force, those eligible for the preference must be retained over those who are not.
