Gold Star Family Member Designation on New Jersey Driver Licenses

Gold Star Family Member designation printed on your licence, which also gives free entry to state parks and forests

You can have a Gold Star Family Member designation printed on your New Jersey driver licence or probationary licence if you are the family member of a service member who died while serving on active duty. Eligible family includes a spouse, domestic partner or civil union partner, a parent, legal guardian or other legal custodian, a sibling, or a child, including whole, half, step and adoptive relatives.

Contact your nearest New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission licensing office to apply.

What you'll need

A DD1300 report of casualty or DD2064 certificate of death overseas, and official documentation proving your family relationship to the deceased service member.

Eligibility

  • You are the spouse, domestic partner, civil union partner, parent, legal guardian, legal custodian, sibling or child of a service member who died while serving on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You can provide a DD1300 or DD2064 and official proof of your relationship
