If you serve in the Hawaii National Guard or a U.S. Armed Forces Reserve component, you can leave $8,082 of your military pay out of your Hawaii state taxes for the 2024 tax year.

How to apply

There is nothing to file separately. Claim the exclusion on your Hawaii income tax return using the Form N-11 instructions, and check the Hawaii Department of Taxation forms page for the current year amount.

Your Leave and Earnings Statements or a year-end pay statement showing your drill and annual training pay.
