If you are hurt, become ill, become disabled or die in the line of duty as a Hawaii National Guard member, you or your survivors are covered for medical care and compensation under Hawaii workers’ compensation law. It does not pay when a similar benefit is already payable under federal law.

How to apply

Report the injury or illness through your chain of command and file a workers’ compensation claim through the Hawaii National Guard with the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations Disability Compensation Division.

What you'll need

Your duty orders, a line of duty determination, your medical records for the condition, and, for a death claim, the death certificate and proof of your relationship to the service member.

Eligibility

  • You are a Hawaii National Guard service member, or the survivor of one
  • The injury, illness, disability or death happened in the line of duty
  • You are not already receiving a similar benefit under federal law or regulation
