Headstone or Marker Setting Benefit for Illinois Veterans and their Family Members

Up to $125 for transporting and setting a headstone or marker

Illinois pays up to $125 for transporting and setting a government-provided headstone or marker. The payment is made only after the headstone or marker has been received and placed and the local transportation and installation fees have been paid.

How to apply

The veteran’s next of kin or executor completes the Illinois Veterans Grave Registration online form after the headstone or marker is set and paid for. For help, contact your nearest Illinois Veteran Service Office.

What you'll need

Receipts for the transportation and setting, documentation of the government-provided headstone or marker, and proof that you are the next of kin or executor.

Eligibility

  • You are the next of kin or executor for the deceased veteran
  • The headstone or marker was provided by the government and has been received and placed
  • You have already paid the local transportation and installation fees
