If you are about to serve outside Idaho for an extended period, you and your dependents can extend an Idaho driver's license or ID card up to 25 months before it expires. Each extension lasts up to four years and can be issued more than once, but not beyond your active duty status period. A military extension ends 60 days after your discharge, separation or retirement from active duty, or on the card's expiration date, whichever comes first.
