Illinois Children of Veterans Scholarship at the University of Illinois

University of Illinois, Office of Student Financial Aid, through Illinois county awards
Tuition at the University of Illinois for four consecutive years

Each Illinois county can award one scholarship a year to the University of Illinois for a child of a veteran of World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, or any service on or after August 2, 1990. The scholarship covers tuition at the University of Illinois for four consecutive years, and preference goes to the children of deceased and disabled veterans.

Contact the University of Illinois Office of Student Financial Aid at finaid@illinois.edu or 217-333-0100, and ask your county about its award for the year.

What you'll need

The veteran’s discharge paperwork showing service in a qualifying period, proof of your relationship to the veteran, and documentation of the veteran’s death or disability if you are claiming preference.

Eligibility

  • You are the child of a veteran
  • Your parent served in World War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam Conflict, or at any time on or after August 2, 1990
  • You are admitted to the University of Illinois
