Illinois Free Camping, Hunting and Fishing for Mobilized Service Members

Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR)
Free camping, Combined Sportsman’s License, Habitat Stamp and a firearm deer permit

If you are an Illinois resident service member who served abroad or was mobilized, the Department of Natural Resources waives your camping, fishing and hunting fees. You get free camping at Illinois State Parks, which does not cover utilities, rent-a-tent or cabin fees, a free Combined Sportsman’s License and Habitat Stamp, and a free firearm deer permit for the county you choose, plus the archery deer permit if the firearm permit is not available when your eligibility is verified. You earn one year of waivers for each year served and one year for each part of a year served.
