$500, $2,000 or $5,000 depending on the grant

Illinois pays cash grants to resident service members in an active or reserve component to help with food, housing, utilities, medical services and other costs that get hard when you leave civilian work or are injured in a hostile act. There are four grants: a $500 status-based grant, a $2,000 needs-based grant, a $5,000 casualty-based grant and a $500 state active duty grant.
