What you'll need

The report of casualty or death certificate showing the death was in the line of duty, your marriage certificate, and proof that you own the home and live in it.

Eligibility

  • You are an Illinois resident who owns and lives in the home as your primary residence
  • You are the unremarried surviving spouse of a service member killed in the line of duty
