Illinois Public Employee Leave and Benefits During Military Duty

Your Illinois public employer, under state law
Up to 30 days of full salary per calendar year for annual training, plus differential pay beyond 60 days of active duty

If you work for Illinois state or local government, a public university or a school district and you serve in the National Guard or Reserves, you must be given leave when you are ordered to active duty, and your seniority and other benefits keep accruing while you are gone. You get your full salary during annual training for up to 30 days a calendar year, and the days do not have to be consecutive. If you serve on active duty for longer than 60 days, your employer pays the difference between your civilian pay and your military pay. You can choose to use accrued vacation, annual or similar leave instead of taking differential pay.
