Illinois State Specially Adapted Housing Grant

A single lump sum of up to $15,000

If you qualify for the VA Specially Adapted Housing Grant, Illinois adds a single lump sum of up to $15,000 to modify or buy a home adapted for your total and permanent disability. The state grant pays out after all the VA funding for the modification or purchase has been used.

What you'll need

Your VA certification of eligibility for a Specially Adapted Housing Grant, proof that you were an Illinois resident when you entered the U.S. Armed Forces, and the plans or purchase documents for the home.

Eligibility

  • You were an Illinois resident when you entered the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You are certified as eligible for a VA Specially Adapted Housing Grant
  • You have used all VA funding for the modification or purchase first
