Coming back from an overseas assignment, you can import a vehicle into the United States duty-free. If you did not pay 7 percent sales tax when you bought it and did not title it in your name before entering the country, the normal Indiana sales tax rules apply when you title it here.
Arrange the duty-free import through U.S. Customs and Border Protection when you ship the vehicle, then title and register it at an Indiana BMV branch.
Your orders showing the overseas assignment, the purchase and title documents for the vehicle, and proof of any sales tax you already paid.
