Iowa Military Commercial Driver’s License Test Waivers

Iowa Department of Transportation
CDL knowledge and skills tests waived, or the skills test alone

Iowa can waive commercial driver’s license testing based on your military training and experience. Under the even exchange option, both the knowledge and skills tests are waived if you held one of the qualifying military occupational specialties in the past year. Under the skills waiver option, only the skills test is waived and you still take the knowledge test.
