Iowa Military Driver’s License Fee Exemptions

Iowa Department of Transportation
License fee waived for the covered license class

Certain driver’s license fees are waived for service members and veterans. If you are on active duty or are an honorably discharged veteran, the fee for a chauffeur (Class D) or commercial (Class A, B or C CDL) license is waived. If you have a 100 percent total and permanent service-connected disability rating from the VA, the fee for an operator license (Class C noncommercial) or a motorcycle license (Class M or endorsement L) is waived.
