Iowa National Guard Compensation for Injury, Illness, Disability or Death on State Active Duty

Medical coverage plus full or partial pay and allowances, and maximum statutory compensation to dependents on a line of duty death

If you are injured, become ill, become disabled or die in the line of duty while serving on state active duty with the Iowa National Guard, you are covered under Iowa workers’ compensation law. A totally disabled member keeps pay and allowances at their pay grade, a partially disabled member receives partial pay and allowances, and the dependents of a member killed in the line of duty receive the maximum compensation the law provides.

Your state active duty orders, a line of duty determination, and your medical records or the death certificate.

Eligibility

  • You are an Iowa National Guard service member, or the survivor or dependent of one
  • The service member was injured, became ill, became disabled or died in the line of duty while serving on state active duty
