You can get financial help from a state fund for unemployment or underemployment caused by service-related reasons, vision, hearing and dental care, durable medical equipment, prescription drugs, counseling and substance abuse services, vehicle repairs, housing repairs, and emergency transitional housing.

How to apply

Contact your nearest Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs County Veteran Service Office to apply. Every payment from the fund has to be approved by the Iowa Veterans Commission.

Your DD214, and documentation of the specific need you are asking the fund to cover, such as bills, estimates or medical paperwork.

Eligibility

You are an Iowa veteran or the family member of an Iowa veteran
You have a need the fund covers, such as service-related unemployment, medical, housing, vehicle or emergency housing costs
