Kansas Operation Recognition High School Diplomas for Wartime Veterans

Honorary high school diploma awarded

Kansas awards an honorary high school diploma if you left high school before graduating to serve in World War II, Korea or Vietnam. Veterans who earned a diploma but could not attend their graduation ceremony also qualify, and diplomas can be awarded after a veteran's death.

How to apply

Mail the completed Operation Recognition application with a copy of the veteran's discharge paperwork to the Kansas Office of Veterans Services, 700 SW Jackson Street, Suite 1004, Topeka, KS 66603. Phone 785-296-3976, fax 785-296-1462.

What you'll need

A copy of the veteran's discharge paperwork showing service in one of the qualifying periods and an honorable discharge.

Eligibility

  • You left high school before graduating to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces, or you received your diploma but could not attend your graduation ceremony
  • You served between September 16, 1940 and December 31, 1946, between June 27, 1950 and January 31, 1955, or between February 28, 1961 and May 7, 1975
  • You received an honorable discharge
