Kansas Property Tax Deferral for Service Members

Property tax on your principal residence deferred for up to two years

If you are preparing to mobilize or will be deployed outside the United States for at least six months, you can put off paying all or part of the property tax on your main home for up to two years.

Get the application from the county clerk where the property is located and file it with your county treasurer. This is handled county by county, not by the state.

What you'll need

Your mobilization or deployment orders showing at least six months outside the United States, and proof the property is your principal residence.

Eligibility

  • You are serving in the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You are preparing to mobilize, or you will be deployed outside the United States for at least six months
  • The property is your principal place of residence
