Kentucky Income Tax Filing Extension for Service Members in Combat Zones

If you are deployed to an area designated as a combat zone, you do not have to file your Kentucky income tax return or pay the tax until 12 months after you return from the deployment.

There is nothing to file in advance. File your return within 12 months of returning and keep your orders in case the Kentucky Department of Revenue asks you to show the deployment dates.

What you'll need

Your orders or Leave and Earnings Statements showing the combat zone deployment and your return date.

Eligibility

  • You are required to file a Kentucky income tax return
  • You are serving in the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You are deployed to an area designated as a combat zone
