In-state tuition paid, up to lifetime caps of $29,000, $58,000 or $72,500 depending on the type of school

Serving in the Kentucky National Guard pays in-state tuition for full-time or part-time study at Kentucky public and private schools. Lifetime caps are $29,000 for community and technical colleges, $58,000 for comprehensive public universities or approved private colleges, and $72,500 for research universities, and each cap rises 5 percent a year. You can use it until you have earned one associate degree and one bachelor’s degree, and alongside military and federal tuition assistance.

What you'll need

Your Kentucky National Guard service record showing good standing and completed basic training, your expiration of term of service date, and your school enrollment information.

Eligibility

  • You are actively serving in the Kentucky National Guard
  • You meet all minimum standards and are eligible for all favorable personnel actions
  • You have completed basic training or its equivalent
  • You have no unexcused absences from drill in the previous 12 months
  • Your expiration of term of service date is after your class end date
