Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs (LDVA)
Tuition and school-imposed fees waived at Louisiana public postsecondary schools

You can attend a Louisiana public postsecondary school without paying tuition, matriculation, registration, laboratory, athletic, medical or other school-imposed fees if you are the child, spouse or surviving spouse of a qualifying Louisiana veteran. A surviving spouse has 10 years from the date they become eligible to use it, and a child has to be between 16 and 25.

How to apply

Contact your local Parish Veterans Service Officer to apply. The Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs runs the program, not the school.

What you'll need

The veteran’s discharge paperwork and VA rating or casualty documentation, proof of the veteran’s Louisiana residency for the required 12 months, proof of your relationship to the veteran, and your school enrollment information.
