Louisiana offers 50 distinctive license plate designs honoring service members, veterans, retired service members and eligible family members. They can go on privately owned passenger cars, pickup trucks, motorcycles and vans, and they cost the same as regular issue plates. Every plate has its own documentation requirements.
Order through the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles license plate online ordering page, or apply at an Office of Motor Vehicles location. Not every field office stocks military plates, so check the directory first, or call the Specialized Vehicle Unit at 225-925-6371 or 225-925-6146.
The proof of eligibility the specific plate requires, which is usually your DD214, military ID, VA rating documentation or casualty paperwork, plus your vehicle registration details.
