$100,000 if the total and permanent rating came on your first VA claim, $50,000 if it came on a later decision

You can receive a state payment of $50,000 to $100,000 if you were disabled while serving on state or federal active duty with the Louisiana National Guard on or after September 11, 2001. The amount is $100,000 if your total and permanent disability rating came on your first VA disability claim, and $50,000 if it came on a later decision.

What you'll need

Your active duty orders showing service on or after September 11, 2001, your VA rating decision showing the total and permanent rating and the decision it came on, and your Louisiana National Guard service records.

Eligibility

  • You are or were a Louisiana National Guard service member
  • You became disabled while serving on state or federal active duty on or after September 11, 2001
  • If you are claiming the $50,000 to $100,000 payment, your disability is rated total and permanent
