You can buy the Louisiana Resident Disabled/Special Needs license for $4 if your husband or wife was killed in action in a combat zone. It covers Basic and Saltwater Fishing licenses, Basic, Deer, Waterfowl and Turkey Hunting licenses, and a Wildlife Management Area Access Permit.

How to apply

Submit the disabled/special needs license application with your documentation and fee in person at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries at 2000 Quail Drive in Baton Rouge, or by mail to Attn: Sport License, PO Box 98000, Baton Rouge LA 70898-9000. For questions, call 225-765-2887.

What you'll need

Copies of the DD1300 report of casualty, the death certificate, and your valid Louisiana driver’s license or ID card.

Eligibility

  • You are the surviving spouse of a service member who was killed in action while serving in a combat zone
  • You have lived in Louisiana continuously for at least six months before you apply
  • You can provide a DD1300 report of casualty, the death certificate, and a valid Louisiana driver’s license or ID card
