Partial, short-term wage replacement

You can claim temporary income if you lose your job through no fault of your own or have your hours cut. Payments are based on your past employment and legal entitlement rather than financial need.

How to apply

File a claim as soon as you become unemployed or your hours are reduced, through the Louisiana Works registration page by choosing Individual Registration, or by calling the unemployment insurance help desk at 866-783-5567.

What you'll need

A copy of a valid government ID, your Social Security number, the name, address, job-site locations and telephone number of your employers for the last 18 months, the name and local number of your union hall if you have one, your Alien Registration number if you are not a U.S. citizen, the Member 4 copy of your DD214 if you had military service in the previous 18 months, and your SF8 and SF50 if you were a federal government employee in the previous 18 months.

Eligibility

  • You are unemployed through no fault of your own, or your hours have been reduced
  • You meet the requirements of the Louisiana Employment Security Law
