Up to 12 percent of total evaluation points added to a Request for Proposal bid, and quote waivers on purchases under $25,000

You can get your veteran-owned small business certified so state agencies and prime contractors can find and use it. Certification puts your business details in front of state purchasing officials, lets agencies skip additional quotes on purchases under $25,000 when your quote is reasonable, and adds up to 12 percent of the total evaluation points to your bid on a Request for Proposal. Prime contractors that use you as a subcontractor also earn extra points on their bids.

What you'll need

Your DD214 or other proof of service, business ownership documents showing you hold 51 percent or more, your employee count, your gross receipts figures, and proof of citizenship or legal residency for you and your officers.

Eligibility

You are a veteran who owns 51 percent or more of the business
Your business has its principal place of business in Louisiana
Your business has fewer than 50 full-time employees
Your average annual gross receipts do not exceed $6 million, or $10 million if the business is a construction company
Your business is independently owned and operated and is not dominant in its field
You are a Louisiana resident, and you and your officers are U.S. citizens or legal residents
