You can have your veteran-owned business listed in a searchable state database that customers use to find and support Louisiana veteran-owned businesses. Certification is recognition and visibility rather than a purchasing preference.

How to apply

Register online at the Louisiana Veterans First registration page. For help, email louisianaveteransfirst@la.gov or call 800-450-8115 or 225-342-3000.

What you'll need

A certified copy of your DD214, NGB22 or DD256 if you are a veteran; a valid military ID if you are serving; or a VA letter confirming you receive Dependency and Indemnity Compensation if you are a surviving spouse. You also need proof your business is based in Louisiana and that the owners are U.S. citizens or legal residents.

Eligibility

  • You own at least 51 percent of the business
  • You are a veteran who received an honorable discharge, a service member serving on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces, the National Guard or the U.S. Armed Forces Reserve, or a surviving spouse who is eligible for a Gold Star Lapel Button and receives Dependency and Indemnity Compensation
  • Your business has its principal place of business in Louisiana
  • You are a Louisiana resident who is a U.S. citizen or legal resident
