Maine Disabled Veterans Controlled Moose Hunt and Lottery

Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, with the Maine Bureau of Veterans' Services
Set-aside moose permits plus donated permits, with logistical support

Maine sets aside moose hunting permits for disabled veterans in a controlled hunt in Aroostook County, with logistical support provided during the hunt. Separately, moose permit holders who cannot use their permit can donate it to a disabled veteran, either naming one or letting the state pick one by lottery. The controlled hunt is once only: if you ever tag a moose in it you cannot take part again.
