Maine offers 14 distinctive license plate designs honoring service members, veterans, retired service members and eligible family members. Several of them carry a registration fee exemption.
Apply at a Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles branch office with the documentation that proves you qualify for the plate you want. The Gold Star Family plate is the exception and goes through the Maine Bureau of Veterans’ Services first.
