Leave for Military Duty and Reemployment for Maine State Employees

Maine Bureau of Human Resources
17 paid workdays of military leave per calendar year, plus reemployment rights

If you are a Maine state employee serving in the National Guard or Reserves, you get 17 paid workdays of military leave each calendar year for state or federal active duty or training. Beyond 17 workdays you go on unpaid military leave, and you may use accrued vacation, compensatory or personal leave but are not required to. When you return from short-term service you generally go back to the job you left; after long-term service you return to that job or to a position of similar status and pay that you are qualified for.
