Up to three sets of plates with decals at $5 per set

You can add decals to your Maine Special Veteran or Disability Special Veteran license plates showing your branch of service, medals for bravery or valor, military campaigns and military badges. You can have up to three sets of plates with decals, at $5 per set.

How to apply

Bring a copy of your DD214 to any Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles branch office, or mail your DD214 and the fee to Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Attention: Registration Unit, 29 State House Station, Augusta ME 04333-0029. For questions call 207-624-9000 extension 52149 or email registrations@maine.gov.

What you'll need

A copy of your DD214. If you received a medal after discharge, bring a copy of the military orders or the award citation instead.

Eligibility

You are a Maine resident
You already hold Maine Special Veteran or Disability Special Veteran license plates
You can document the branch, medal, campaign or badge the decal represents
