You do not need a Maryland fishing or hunting license while you are on leave. The exemption covers the hunting license, deer stamps and the Managed Hunt Permit.

There is nothing to apply for. Carry your military ID and leave paperwork while you hunt or fish.

What you'll need

Your military ID and your leave paperwork, plus proof you have met Maryland hunter education requirements if you are hunting.

Eligibility

  • You are a Maryland resident service member, or a nonresident service member stationed in Maryland
  • You are on leave
  • If you hunt, you meet Maryland hunter education requirements
