Maryland Motor Vehicle Excise Tax Credit for Military Personnel

Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration
Excise tax credit on one vehicle titled after a military move, if you file within the one-year window

If you are on active duty (or you are an immediate family member of someone who is), Maryland gives you a motor-vehicle excise tax credit when you title a vehicle you brought from another state. New Maryland residents have one year. Returning Maryland residents have one year from the date they come home.

  • You title the vehicle within 60 days of becoming a new Maryland resident and have not lived in Maryland more than one year, or you are a returning Maryland resident who titles it within one year of coming home
