Maryland National Guard State Tuition Assistance Reimbursement (STAR)

Up to 50 percent of tuition and related fees reimbursed

You can be reimbursed up to 50 percent of tuition and related fees at Maryland colleges and universities that partner with the Maryland National Guard. It covers undergraduate courses and can be used alongside the State Tuition Waiver, the Montgomery GI Bill and Federal Tuition Assistance.

Contact the Maryland National Guard education office at mdngeducation@army.mil, or call 667-296-4139 or 667-296-4144, to start a STAR claim before your course begins.

What you'll need

Proof you are in good standing in the Maryland National Guard, your enrollment and tuition statement, and your grades once the course ends.

Eligibility

You are a Maryland National Guard service member in good standing
You are in pay grade E-1 through O-4
You have a two-year service obligation remaining from the course start date
You are taking undergraduate courses at a Maryland institution that partners in education with the Maryland National Guard
