You can claim extra retirement credit in the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System for your military service. Active duty before you joined the system is worth up to five years of credit. Reserve component service after you joined earns four months of credit for each full year with at least 50 inactive duty points, up to 36 months, and active duty for training earns one month for every 28 days, with no credit for less than 28 days.
Submit the Maryland Claim of Retirement Credit for Military Service, Form 043, to the Maryland State Retirement Agency.
Your DD214 or point statements showing your service dates and inactive duty points, and confirmation you are not receiving credit for the same service under another pension system.
