Maryland State Veterans Cemeteries

Maryland Department of Veterans and Military Families, Cemetery Program
No cost burial for veterans; $978 for a dependent interment

Maryland runs five state veterans cemeteries: Cheltenham in Cheltenham, Crownsville in Crownsville, Eastern Shore in Hurlock, Garrison Forest in Owings Mills, and Rocky Gap in Flintstone. A veteran gets a burial plot, grave liner, headstone and burial services at no cost; your family or estate pays for preparing and transporting the remains and for funeral costs. A dependent is buried in the same plot as the veteran, for a $978 payment covering the burial liner and interment.
