Massachusetts Clause 22F Property Tax Exemption for Paraplegic and Blind Veterans

Full exemption from property tax on your home

You pay no property tax at all on the home you live in if you are paraplegic or have a 100 percent disability rating for service-connected blindness. The spouse or surviving spouse of a veteran who qualifies can claim it too.

How to apply

Apply to the assessor in the Massachusetts city or town where the property is. You have to apply again every year.

What you'll need

Your discharge paperwork, your VA rating letter or medical documentation of paraplegia or service-connected blindness, proof you occupy the home as your domicile, and proof of your Massachusetts residency.

Eligibility

  • You occupy the property as your domicile on July 1 of the year you apply
  • You lived in Massachusetts for at least six months before entering the U.S. Armed Forces, or you have lived in Massachusetts for the two consecutive years immediately before filing, or you are the spouse of an eligible veteran
  • You are paraplegic or have a 100 percent disability rating for service-connected blindness, or you are the spouse or surviving spouse of a veteran who qualifies
