The Registry will mail you a special non-photo Massachusetts driver’s licence while you are stationed outside the state. Spouses and dependents can use it too.

Mail a copy of your military orders, the completed licence application and the fee to Registry of Motor Vehicles, Driver Licensing Department, P.O. Box 55889, Boston, MA 02205-5889.

What you'll need

A copy of your military orders, the completed RMV driver’s licence application, and the fee listed on the RMV schedule of fees.

Eligibility

  • You are a service member stationed outside Massachusetts, or the spouse or dependent of one
  • You hold a Massachusetts driver’s licence
