Michigan High School Diplomas for Wartime Veterans

High school diploma awarded

If you left a Michigan high school before graduating in order to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II, Korea or Vietnam, Michigan will award you a high school diploma.

How to apply

Send a copy of your discharge paperwork with an Application for High School Diploma for Michigan World War II, Korean and Vietnam Era Veterans to the school district you attended. You can also email the application and documents to MVAAResourceCenter@michigan.gov. Your next of kin can apply on your behalf.

What you'll need

Your DD214 or other discharge paperwork showing service in one of the qualifying periods and an honorable discharge, and the name of the Michigan school district you left.

Eligibility

  • You left a Michigan high school before receiving your diploma in order to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You served between December 16, 1940 and December 31, 1946, between June 27, 1950 and January 31, 1955, or between February 28, 1961 and May 7, 1975
  • You received an honorable discharge
