Michigan Incarcerated Veterans' In-Reach Program

Pre-release employment-readiness training and post-release follow-up at seven facilities

If you are a veteran in a Michigan correctional facility, you can get pre-release education, employment assistance and career guidance. The program builds on the facility’s adult education, GED, violence prevention, substance abuse and counseling programs with intensive employment-readiness training, and continues with follow-up services after your release.

Ask facility staff to refer you to the program, or email veteransservices@michigan.gov for information.

What you'll need

Your DD214 or other proof of military service.

Eligibility

  • You are a veteran
  • You are incarcerated at the Carson City, Cooper Street, G. Robert Cotton, Women’s Huron Valley, Parnall, Saginaw or St. Louis correctional facility
  • You are preparing for release
