Michigan Military Family Relief Fund

Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA)
Grant for necessities of daily living during activation

Financial assistance grants for the families of Michigan National Guard and U.S. Armed Forces Reserve members called to active duty. Grants can be spent on clothing, food, housing, utilities, medical services or prescriptions, insurance payments, vehicle payments and other necessities of daily living.

How to apply

Submit the Michigan Military Family Relief Fund application with a letter describing the hardship and the documents listed on the application, by mail, email or fax to Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, Office of Financial Services, Reserve Forces Service Center, 3423 North Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Lansing, MI 48906, fax 517-481-7644, email dmva-mfrf@michigan.gov.

What you'll need

The completed application, a letter outlining your hardship, the service member’s activation orders, and the supporting documents listed on the application.

Eligibility

  • You are a Michigan National Guard or U.S. Armed Forces Reserve service member called to federal active duty in response to a national emergency declared by the President, or a family member of one
  • You have a financial hardship you can describe in a letter with your application
  • You are applying no more than six months after redeployment
