Michigan law protects your civilian job while you serve. Your employer cannot discriminate against you because of your military membership or obligations, you get a leave of absence for required military duty and the right to return to your job afterwards, and there are provisions for differential pay that make up all or part of the gap between your military pay and your State of Michigan pay.
Tell your employer’s human resources office before you leave and give them a copy of your orders, then contact them to arrange your return when your duty ends. If you are a State of Michigan employee, ask specifically about military differential pay.
Your military orders, and your discharge or release paperwork when you return to work.
