Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA)
Referral to financial and material assistance resources within 48 hours

If you have a temporary financial problem, such as utility bills, vehicle or home repairs, medical bills or other debts, you can ask the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency for help. A resource center representative contacts you within 48 hours to connect you with available resources.

What you'll need

Your DD214 showing an honorable discharge and qualifying service, proof of Michigan residency, and details of the bills or debts you need help with.

Eligibility

  • You are a Michigan resident
  • You received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You served 180 days of active duty during a period of war, or served less than 180 days of wartime service and were discharged because of a service-connected disability, or served 180 days of active duty and were awarded an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal
  • You need help with utility bills, vehicle or home repairs, medical bills or other debts
