Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity
No-cost career and training services, with priority of service over non-veterans

You can get one-on-one career and training help at Michigan Works! Service Centers from Veterans’ Career Advisors and Local Veterans’ Employment Representatives. Services include assessment interviews, career guidance, an individual employment plan, staff-assisted job searches, labor market information and basic career services. Career advisors work directly with veterans and spouses who face significant barriers to employment.

How to apply

Contact Michigan Works! at 800-285-9675 or visit a local Michigan Works! Service Center and tell them you are a veteran or an eligible spouse.

What you'll need

Your DD214 or other proof of service to establish veteran status and priority of service.

Eligibility

  • You served at least one day on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces, or you are the eligible spouse of a veteran
  • You are looking for employment or training help in Michigan
