Military Out-of-State Renewal of Nebraska Driver's License

If you would rather renew than use the military exemption, you can renew your Nebraska driver's license online or by mail while you are away.

Renew at the Nebraska DMV online renewal page, or by mail following the instructions on the Out-Of-State Renewal tab of the DMV renewals page.

What you'll need

A copy of your current orders, leave papers, discharge papers (usable for 60 days after your discharge date) or military ID card. If you no longer have a physical Nebraska address, also send a current Leave and Earnings Statement showing taxes paid to Nebraska and two proofs of your current address.

Eligibility

  • You hold a Nebraska driver's license
  • You are a service member or the family member of one
  • You can provide current orders, leave papers, discharge papers dated within the last 60 days, or a military ID card
