You get first preference in the drawings for special deer hunts and in the antlerless deer, bear and turkey lotteries. Purple Heart recipients still have to buy their licenses; only the drawing preference comes with it.
Submit the DNR Military Preference Application Form with your documentation before the lottery deadline for the hunt you want.
Your DD214 or discharge papers, current military ID, Purple Heart documentation, or VA rating documentation, depending on which category you fall into.
