If you were discharged from federal active duty outside the U.S. within the previous 24 months you can hunt small game with no license and no state stamps, fish with no license and no trout stamp, get one free deer license a year valid for one either-sex deer except in buck-only areas, and use ski trails without a ski pass. You still need a federal stamp for waterfowl hunting if you are under 65, and free sturgeon tags are only available from the DNR License Center in St. Paul.
Show your discharge papers to a DNR license agent, or contact the DNR License Center in St. Paul.
