You can buy Minnesota resident hunting and fishing licenses even though you are not a resident, if you are stationed in Minnesota, training at Camp Ripley, serving in the Minnesota National Guard, or the nonresident spouse of a Minnesota resident service member on active duty. The elk license is not included.

How to apply

Buy the license from a DNR license agent and show your official military documents. A spouse also has to show proof of the service member’s Minnesota residency and active duty status.

Official military documents stating that you are stationed in Minnesota, training at Camp Ripley or a member of the Minnesota National Guard. A nonresident spouse needs proof of the service member’s Minnesota residency and active duty status.

Eligibility

  • You are serving in the U.S. Armed Forces and stationed in Minnesota, or training at Camp Ripley, or a member of the Minnesota National Guard, or you are the nonresident spouse of a Minnesota resident service member serving on active duty
  • You can provide the official military documents that show it
